Why biofilm keeps returning

Many greenhouse companies clean pipes, flush systems or use oxidative agents such as H₂O₂. Yet biofilm can return over time.

This is often caused by a combination of organic load, stagnant zones, pipe material, temperature, flow and microbiological pressure in the recirculating system.

When conditions remain favourable, microbiological build-up can form again on wet surfaces within the water circuit.

CWN is used to make microbiological pressure and system instability easier to control. The impact on biofilm depends on system design, hydraulics, water load, positioning and measurement strategy. That is why we assess this per installation.

Does CWN replace cleaning, flushing or H₂O₂?

No. CWN is applied as an additional system technology. Cleaning, flushing, filtration, UV or oxidative treatment can each retain their own function within the water system.

CWN is particularly relevant when biofilm returns after cleaning, drippers become contaminated, microbial counts fluctuate or corrective treatment is needed more frequently.
